Specification ASTM A36 covers Carbon Steel products including pipes, which can be used in the construction of bridges and buildings. The specified ASTM A36 Carbon Steel Seamless Pipe could also be used for customary structural purposes. The specification calls for the performance of a heat analysis on the products. The heat analysis is carried out on the Astm A36 Schedule 40 Steel Pipe in order to determine the required chemical composition.
The elements added in the alloy of ASTM A36 Pipe include manganese, carbon, phosphorus, silicon, sulfur, and Copper. Along with a heat analysis, the ASTM A36 Seamless Pipe is evaluated using the tension test. Several parameters including the products tensile and yield strength besides its elongation properties are checked. These properties must conform to the expected tensile properties. Being a structural grade, carbon steel ASTM A36 Water Pipe exhibit good weldability properties, and is easily weldable with the use of any of the following techniques - gas metal arc welding i.e. GMAW, or MIG welding, shielded metal arc welding i.e. SMAW, or stick welding, as well as oxyacetylene welding. The ASTM A36 carbon steel tube could be hardened or carburised using any of the conventional techniques used on alloy steel grade AISI 1018.

Short Description | Spiral welded pipe is manufactured from steel coil. The coil is unwound and then welded while it is being turned into the shape of the pipe. Changing the angle of the spiral and the thickness of the coil is all that is needed to change from one pipe size to another. The two sides of the double submerged arc weld penetrate the full thickness of the steel to ensure the strength of the finished pipe. Full scale tests have shown that high quality spiral welded pipe is as strong as API pipe. The strength and flexible manufacturing of spiral welded pipe make it the product of choice for a variety of applications. |
